The Oak Tree city
In the 1800s, the area now known as Oakland was an oak forest. Development began in 1851 and led to incorporation as a town in 1852, and as a city in 1854. While just over the Bay Bridge from its more well-known neighbor, San Francisco, Oakland has developed a character of its own. Its concentration of artists, innovative restaurants, and music venues makes it a destination city, and its large port connects it with the world. Our miniature model of Oakland is built from data from 2010, so includes most of the tallest buildings, including the headquarters for Clorox and Kaiser Permanente. There are several new buildings under construction that will join that group, such as 1314 Franklin and 1640 Broadway, but they’re not in our model yet.
This piece is made from a biodegradable starch-based plastic, and will be 3D printed, cleaned, and packaged just for you. It comes mounted to a simple and smooth art board and hangs on a nail with no extra effort. To keep this work looking great, just dust it periodically with a blast of air.
If you don't live in Oakland, check out our other cities, or request one via email - we're really nice people!
