Detroit - A personal touch

Detroit will always have a special place in my heart: my grandparents settled there pre-WWII, my parents were born there, and I lived nearby and visited often during my youth. The "Motor City" was home to the headquarters of the Big Three automakers, and was one of the fastest-growing and wealthiest cities in the U.S. during the auto boom years. It's seen hard times, though, being the largest city to declare bankruptcy, and is only now getting back onto its feet.

MiniCty captures everything…Experiences are something unique

What MiniCty models show is not only the tallest buildings in a city, but the urban texture and everyday details that often tell another story. Our 3D model of Detroit uses laser-scan data from 2009 and includes landmarks such as the Renaissance Center, Ally Detroit Center, Penobscot and Guardian Buildings, Greektown, and the two new stadiums. Also you'll see the track of the People Mover, details in Hart Plaza, the earthen sculptures on the DTE campus, and all the other features you expect from MiniCty: buses, trees, towers, highways, bridges, parking lots, even external elevators and light posts.
